Sarah was raped and murdered on our silver wedding anniversary on february 11th 2003. She is our
youngest of three wonderful children and our only daughter.
My beautiful girl made a dramatic entrance into this world by Caesarian section and I always told
her she was here for a special reason. Sarah was always so bubbly and full of energy and kept our
home alive with music, singing along to her favourite group, Busted.
On the evening of our wedding anniversary, we went out for a quiet meal to celebrate, only to come
home sooner than planned because of my bad feeling, or premonition. At 9pm, a police helecopter
hovered overhead and shone it's light down for such a long time. When Sarah didn't come home at her
given time, that feeling of panic and fear took over and her dad and brothers went looking for her.
When they came home without her, we contacted the police to report her missing. We knew where she
was going that evening and who she was with, but I phoned anyone I could think of to see if they
knew where she might be, but nobody knew. Sarah was never late to come home so we knew something was
terribly wrong, but even then, we never dreamed that something so horrific could happen to our
child.
At midnight, two plain clothed police officers knocked on our door to bring us the devastating news
of our beautiful daughter's death. She had been beaten, raped and strangled. The monster who did
this to our baby is now in prison serving a life sentence and seven years to run concurrant, (in
with the sentence) for rape. His minimum tariff was set at ten years, which means that in February
2013, he'll be eligable for parole and will only be 28yrs old. We can only pray that he will not be
granted parole when that time comes. My baby will always be only 14yrs old.
Sarah my baby, we miss you more than words can say. I light a candle at home in your corner for you
every night at 9pm to show you the way home. Our house is so quiet now and our family incomplete. I
love you so so much my darling and will always be lost without you. Sleep tight my Angel.
